2,379 words into my first mental fluff post since the lockdown, and I realise that perhaps the world right now may be a little better off without listening to me rant at 3am in the morning. And so I deleted them all.
I decided a long-winded whine isn’t exactly something that would alleviate the situation right now — in fact, it isn’t something that would alleviate my own mood right now — and besides, I’d rather make a mental postcard of all the places I want to be.
It’s so counter-intuitive to everything that’s been going on; but I’ve always idealised the notion of getting lost in somewhere crowded. To be completely and wholly swallowed up by the absolute madness that is Times Square on New Year’s Eve — despite my blanket hatred for anything that claustrophobises me.
The feeling of anonymity. To be surrounded by thousands, if not millions; with not a single soul who knows your name.
To share a second of connection with the stranger next to you without having to know who they are, or where they come from.
To fleetingly know someone without having to know their reality, and without them having to know yours.
The bustling markets of Morocco.
London on Christmas Eve.
The riotous charm of a Caribbean city life.
Anonymity in a throng of millions is solitude romanticised to its finest form. Which is why I, too, love the feeling of being anonymous in a city I’ve never been before.
I, too, love the feeling of being lost, without the need of having to be found.

Where would you like to be lost in, and why?

I might just feel this way if I ever get to Quebec City, Canada. I won’t know a sole – but it’s kind of exciting.

Being lost in somewhere unfamiliar definitely would give you this sense of adrenaline. I’ve always wanted to visit Athens I just love the history.

Yes, being lost is amazing at times. Sometimes I just want to be alone!
